Herbert G. Carter Jr. 78, of Broomstick Road, Green Lane, passed away January 22, 2015. He was the husband of the late Emily (Collinge) Carter. Born in Quakertown, he was the only child of Dr. Herbert G. and Frances (Schilling) Carter. Herbert was a graduate of Lafayette College, Easton, where he became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He taught Chemistry at the Perkiomen School, and then worked as a chemical engineer for the Cabot Corporation, Boyertown, for over 40 years, retiring in 1998. Herbert served on the Upper Hanover Township Planning Commission for over 40 years. He was a former member of the Upper Perkiomen School Board. He and his wife bred and showed Flemish Giant Rabbits. Surviving are children: Jane, wife of George Ehnot of Green Lane; Herbert Carter III, and his wife, Diane, of Macungie, Catherine Carter Derkosh, of Atlanta, GA, Samuel Carter of Green Lane, Edward Carter, and his wife Tracey, of Landis Store and Caroline Carter of Green Lane; grandchildren: Jason, Kallie & Abigail Carter. Services will be private. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg, is in charge of arrangements. Contributions: in lieu of flowers, may be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
