Henry “Hank” Gilbert Fluck, aged 84, died on May 16, 2010, at the New Eastwood Convalescent Home in Wilson Borough. Born on July 11, 1925 in Wilson Borough to the late Rollin J. Fluck, Sr. and Ruth (Rohn) Fluck, Hank married Catherine E.”Kitty” Bickel of Wilson Borough on Christmas Eve, 1946. Hank graduated from Wilson High School in 1943 and Rider University in 1949. From 1951 until his retirement in 1989 Hank was employed by Easton Motor Freight, which merged with North Penn Transfer in 1969. Hank served as General Manager of NPT’s Easton office starting in 1971. Residing in Palmer Township since 1962, Hank enjoyed doing home improvements, gardening, and wintering in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Hank was active in the community as a member and officer of the Easton Area Jaycees and the Easton Area Sertoma Club (1970 Sertoman of the year), a 62-year life member of Dallas-Lafayette Lodge Number 396, F&AM, and as a member of the Valley Forge Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society – Sons of the American Revolution, American Legion Post 9 – Palmer Township, the USS Shangri La Association, the Schwenkfelder Library and German Heritage Center, the Jacobsburg Historical Society, the Stones Crossing Swim Club Board, the Rider University Alumni Association, and Meals on Wheels – Northampton County. During World War II, Hank served in the US Navy as a Radioman 1st Class on aircraft carriers as a member of Admiral John Sidney McCain’s staff. The author of a 2006 biography of Admiral McCain acknowledged Hank’s key contributions to the book’s preparation. Hank is survived by his wife Kitty, his son J. Jeffrey Fluck and his wife Nancy (Barrett) Fluck of Brunswick, Georgia, his son Timothy A. Fluck and his wife Naomi Miller of South Burlington, Vermont, his brother Robert R. Fluck of Pensacola, Florida, and his sisters Adele Fluck of Wilson Borough and Elaine Golden of Bethlehem. His brother Rollin J. Fluck, Jr. and sister Doris Stem predeceased their brother. A private service was held at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory in Hellertown.
