H. Lee Coker

October 26, 1915 — February 16, 2010

H. Lee Coker, 94, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, in Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Margaret Lawfer Coker, and the son of Horace L. and Bessie (Sibley) Coker. He served as a beverage distributor in the Lehigh Valley for many years. In 1961, Lee opened Camp Olympic in Emmaus. As head basketball coach, he took the 1944 Muhlenberg College men’s basketball team to the National Invitation Tournament in New York City. An avid player, coach, and fan, Lee was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Basketball Hall of Fame in 1984. Survivors: Sons, Peter Coker and his wife Susan of Chapel Hill, NC, and Jim Coker and his wife Midge of Allentown; daughter Peggy Coker of Fogelsville; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services: A memorial service will be held at Phoebe Home, 1925 Turner Street, Allentown, at 10:30 am Thursday, February 25. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Hellertown is in charge of arrangements. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Phoebe Home’s Community Life Department.
