Gloria E. (Reimert) Bonenberger, 82, wife of the late Carl G. Bonenberger, of Red Hill, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Frederick Living. Born in Allentown, PA to the late Paul L. Reimert, Sr. and Catherine (Buchay) Reimert. Raised by Alfred R. and Hertha (Schumacher) Ehlert in Hosensack, PA. Gloria had spent many years raising five children and working as a waitress, hostess and bartender while supplying her locally famous homemade pies to area restaurants and diners. She was an avid bowler and delighted in bingo. Gloria was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and served as a former church council member. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary for the Red Hill Fire Company and was an assistant Girl Scout Leader. She was a fan of local, school and Philadelphia sports teams. Carl and Gloria ran the refreshment stand at the Eagle AA field during the softball season for many years. She was involved with The Macungie Minstrelaires. A breast cancer survivor, she participated in Upper Perk Relay for Life. She and her husband were snowbirds in Myrtle Beach, SC. Among her interests, were family camping and NJ shore trips. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, JoAnne Rehak of Red Hill and Monika Owen, wife of Bob from Florida; two sons Craig of Hughesville and David, husband of Melissa of Pennsburg. She was grand mom to nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Forrest Reimert (Nancy) of Pottstown; sister, Joan Ehlert of Louisiana; half siblings, Elizabeth Gerancher of Jim Thorpe and William A. Rau of California; sister-in-law Claire Cope of Pennsburg and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her son Michael G. Bonenberger, husband of Coreen of Boyertown; siblings, Paul L. Reimert, Jr., Roberta Knappenberger and Allen Reimert. Services: 7 pm, Wednesday, May 11 at Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main St., Pennsburg, where all are invited to gather from 6 pm. Interment will be private.
