It is with heavy hearts that Louise's family announce her passing, surrounded by love, family, and a long time dear friend, on April 14, 2016 just one day after her 94th.birthday. Beloved wife of the late John Simmons Watt and predeceased by her parents Wayne and Margaret Rothenberger and sister Ruth Harris (Jim), Louise is survived by her family Jane Topping (Larry) and John Watt (Leanne) and her much cherished granddaughters Natalie and Emily Watt. She will be greatly missed by her family and close friends. Louise graduated from the School of Occupational Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania. She was a Major in the US Army Reserve and served as Chief Occupational Therapist in US Veterans Hospitals for 25 years. Upon her marriage she left her beloved homeland to join her husband and his family to embark upon a new chapter in her life here in Canada. Upon moving to Ottawa Louise joined, and was active in, The Engineers' Wives Association and the Ottawa Horticultural Society, and also served her new community by volunteering at the Civic, Salvation Army and the Royal Ottawa Hospitals and the Red Cross Blood Mobile for many years. She enjoyed the family cottage, Ottawa Little Theatre, and outings with the various antique car clubs she and her husband belonged to. Louise was a lifelong member of the Palm Schwenkfelder Church, Palm, PA, and in Ottawa became an active participant in the South Minster United and Barrhaven United church communities. A celebration of her life followed by a reception was held in Ottawa on Thursday, April 21st. Interment will be at the Palm Cemetery on May 12, 2016 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers donations in Louise's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimers Society.
