George Young, Sr.

George D. Young, 70, formerly of Hazleton, died September 1, 2009 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Carl and Jessie (Bone) Young. For over 30 years he worked as a detailer at Philadelphia Electric Co., Philadelphia. He was a 1957 graduate of Girard College, Philadelphia, and is a graduate of Bucks County Community College. He was a member of F&AM in Philadelphia. Survivors: daughters, Elizabeth Semon of Schwenksville, and Loretta Elia, spouse of Don Hutton and the late Brett Elia, of Hazelton; brother, Robert and his wife, Ruth, of Levittown; sisters Janet, wife of the late Robert Jones, of Fairfax, VA; and Elaine, wife of Bill Everett, of Fairhaven, NY; sister-in-law Sue Young , wife of the late Carl Young Jr., of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren, Elysia, Amber, Andrew, Frankie, Bonnie, Dana, and Amanda; and seven ten great grandchildren, Brett, Jacob, Morgan, Liam, Gabrielle, Tyler, and Libby. He was pre-deceased by an infant son, and a son, George, Jr.; brothers, Carl Jr., Bruce, and Malcolm; and an infant sister. Services: Graveside services are at Beaulah Cemetery, 238 Almshouse Road in New Britain Township, Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 AM.
