George R. Horvath, 52, of New Tripoli, passed away peacefully with his family by his side June 13, 2013. He was the loving husband of Christine (Calamari) Horvath. Born in Allentown, he was a son of George A. and Doris (Himmelberger) Horvath of Coopersburg. He was a member of Weisenberg Lutheran Church, New Tripoli and the FOP Lodge #10, Allentown. From 1979-1985 he was a Lower Saucon Police Patrolman. George proudly served as Detective Sgt for Allentown Police Department for 20 years where he was part of the Emergency Response Team, K-9 Unit and Criminal Investigations Unit. He retired as Supervisor in Vice & Intelligence Unit. Before his illness he was a Surveillance Agent at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. George will always be remembered for the happiness that he brought to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His greatest gift to those who knew him was the gift of laughter. Surviving with his wife and his parents, are a daughter, Shana Horvath of New Tripoli; a son, Justin Horvath of IL; a sister, Dawn Weber-Jordan and her husband Paul of Warminster; and brothers: Ryan and his companion Christopher Parker of Walnutport and Eric and his wife Crystal of Slatington. A memorial service will be 11 AM, Monday, July 1, at Weisenberg Lutheran Church, 7645 Weisenberg Church Rd., New Tripoli, PA 18066. Family and friends are welcome to call Monday, from 9-11am at the church. Contributions may be made in George's memory to the FOP Lodge #10, 24 N. 10th St., Allentown PA 18101.
