Furhman J. Lindenmuth, 93, of Hellertown, returned to the Lord on July 1, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn J. Lindenmuth, who preceded him in death in 2007. Born January 27, 1922 in Quakake Junction, PA, he was the son of the late Marshall and Myrtle (Harris) Lindenmuth. He grew up in Weatherly, PA. From July 1938 to July 1939 he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps at Darling Run in the Grand Canyon of PA, near Wellsboro, PA. Furhman was a member of “The Greatest Generation”. He proudly served his country in the Army during World War II, from September 1942 to November 1945, serving in France, Italy and N. Africa. He worked in the structural steel industry, beginning his career at Luria Steel in Bethlehem, PA. Following that, he worked at A. Leo Nash Steel, Pittsfield, Mass. He finished his career at Lehigh Structural Steel in Allentown, PA, retiring in 1982. Furhman was a member of Mystic Lodge, A. F. & A.M. in Pittsfield, MA. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed his favorite hobby of fishing after his retirement. To know Furhman was to know a kind, wise, very reserved gentle man of humor, generosity, and compassion along with his vast knowledge, through his own experiences, of the world and politics. He was quite a storyteller and a history buff. His stories of his childhood along with stories of our family life together and his service to his country were too numerous but unforgettable to those that were fortunate to listen to him on countless occasions. He passed on his wisdom and compassion for life to all around him. He was also a Phillies fan and a follower of Penn State Football. Survivors: Furhman will be lovingly be remembered and sadly missed by his family, daughters: Karen Adams and Janet Levering; and a son, Scott Lindenmuth. He was the cherished Grandfather of Jan, Erin, Cody and Haley and the cherished Great Grandfather of Elaine. He will be missed by his loyal companion, Hannah, his beloved dog. Along with his wife, he was predeceased by his brother Wayne Lindenmuth and Elma Smith. Services: He was interred at Memorial Park in Bethlehem with full military honors. His committal service was officiated by Rev. David Brown of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. Arrangements were entrusted to Falk Funeral Homes and Crematory, Hellertown, PA.
