Frederick J. Wentzel, 80, of Green Lane, passed away April 25, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Beard) Wentzel. Born in Stowe, he was a son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Nishbach) Wentzel. Fred served his country honorably in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a group leader for USGauge/Ametec, Sellersville for 39 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Pennsburg United Church of Christ. Fred was also a member of the Red Hill Fire Co., where he was Fire Chief from 1969 until 1979, and then a trustee from 1980-84. He was a member of the PA State Fireman's Assn; the Montgomery County Fireman's Relief Assn.; the Owl's Nest, #1302, East Greenville; the American Legion, Post #184, Palm; and the VFW, Post #5954, Red Hill. Surviving with his wife, are children: Karen Engle, companion of Gary Cox, of Red Hill; Sheila, wife of Clair Huber, of Tafton, PA; Robert, and his wife Christina; of Green Lane; Joseph, and his wife Crystal, of Boyertown; and Frederick, and his wife Dawne, of Souderton; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings: Helen, wife of Herbert Zeigler, of Pottstown; and Mary, wife of William Priotte, of Douglassville. He was pre-deceased by a grandson, Anthony; a son-in-law, William Engle; and siblings: Paul Jr., David Richard, Catherine, and Ruth. Services will be at 11 AM on Thursday at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg. A viewing will be from 9:30-11 AM.
