Ellen Glasbrenner

Ellen A. Glasbrenner, 78, of Burgundy Circle, Red Hill, and formerly of Conyngham, PA and Cambridge, WI, died June 20, 2010. She was the wife of Stanley N. Glasbrenner. They were married 54 years last July. Born in New Britain, CT, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Florence (Kilbourne) Nelson. She was the valedictorian of the class of 1950, Plainville High School, CT, and a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a degree in Education and Chemistry. She was a chemist in various labs throughout her lifetime. She was currently a member of Pennsburg United Church of Christ, and was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Conyngham PA and Grace Lutheran Church in Cambridge, WI. She was a former member of the Lioness Club in Conyngham. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, especially needle crafts. She enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, and sewing. She often sewed matching outfits for herself, her daughter, and her daughter’s dolls as she was growing up. She canned and made fruit jellies. She played the piano her entire life, and participated in the church choirs. She enjoyed playing bridge and other card games. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed playing golf; and participated in and organized aerobics classes wherever she lived. She loved the ocean. She spent many summers at Great Hammock Beach, CT and later in life, she vacationed in Florida. She enjoyed walking the sandbars, watching the sunrise, and listening to the sounds of the ocean. Surviving with her husband, are children: William A. Glasbrenner, of Fairless Hills, PA; Patricia Ann, wife of Mark Rooney, of Lafayette Hills, PA; and David N. Glasbrenner, and his wife, Barbara, of Frostburg, MD; sisters: Dorothy Stephenson, of Plainville, CT; and Nancy Loring, of Hemphill, TX; and 6 grandchildren: Samantha, James, Daniel, Sara, Steven, and Andrew. She was pre-deceased by siblings: Alice, Arthur, and Judson. Services will be at ________on Thursday at the Messiah United Methodist Church, 527 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444_.
