Elisabeth Christ

Elisabeth Christ passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital on January 20th, one hour before her 74th Birthday. She was born in the town of Bruex, Bohemia and she had received her teacher education at the University of Tuebingen. She was teaching British English in Ulm, Germany when she met her husband Joseph and moved to the United States in 1976. Lis taught Elementary classes at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Ottsville, and she worked in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Rehabilitation Program for the Mentally Handicapped. She was a very active member of Lower Saucon United Church of Christ in Hellertown, where she was a member of the Care Team and was very involved in church activities. She was an also an honorary Member of Bethany Children’s Home Alumni Association in Womelsdorf, and a member of the Northampton County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. Both she and her husband taught Adult Evening Classes in German at Pennridge School District for 25 years. She will be missed tremendously as she was a very outgoing, heart warming, fun loving person. Survivors: her loving husband Joseph; a step-son Charles Christ Sr.; a daughter-in-law Martha Christ; a grandson Charles Christ, Jr.; sister-in-laws, Marjorie Strohmeier and Shirley Koch, both of Hellertown; a brother, Helmut and his wife Siglind, and a cousin Susanne Walde and her husband Manfred, all in Germany; and many nieces and nephews. Services: A Celebration of her life will be at 11 AM on Friday, June 13th at the Lower Sasucon UCC, 1374 Third Avenue, Hellertown. Friends may gather from 10 AM until services.
