Edward Stanko

Edward "Eddie" J. Stanko, 65, of Hellertown, PA, passed away on October 13, 2025 at St. Luke's Anderson Campus into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He and his wife, Susan (Harvat) Stanko shared 34 years of loving marriage.

Born in Drexel Hills, PA, he was raised in Edison, NJ. He was the son of the late Edward V. Stanko and Margaret (Matthews) Stanko.

Eddie graduated from Edison High School-Edison NJ in 1978. He started learning to play drums in Oct' 75 and was in his first band, Brisance with band members Frank Kelly and John Worley. It brought about friendships that lasted forever.

Eddie would play with many local bands over the years. The Green Marbles, Uncle Maxx, Quadraplay, and Tearbender. His band members called Eddie "The best drummer that nobody heard of," even "metronome like!" His last band (which was un-named) was with Andy Kubat.

Eddie worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service from 1984 until his retirement in 2017. First at Kilmer GMF, New Brunswick, NJ, and later at Lehigh Valley Mail Facility in PA. Other than drumming and listening to his favorite band, Black Sabbeth, Eddie enjoyed caring for his '59 Dodge Custom Royal (Dorothy), model railroading, F1 and Indy Car Racing, cheering for the NY Giants and the NY Rangers.

In the 90's, he enjoyed pick-up games of roller hockey in Easton, PA as well as The SkateAway in Whitehall, PA.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Susan; mother-in-law, Helen Harvat; brother-in-law, Bruce Petrie and his wife, Ginger (Harvat) Petrie; brother-in-law, James W. Harvat; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded in death by his, father-in-law, James C. Harvat and brother-in-law, Mitchell Harvat.

Eddie will be lovingly missed by his best friend and beloved dog, Gus, many kitties, friends, and family.
