Edward Moran

December 10, 1927 — November 13, 2018

Edward Alphonsus Moran, age 90, of Hellertown, PA died peacefully in the company of his loving family on November 13, 2018. Born December 10, 1927 in Cambridge, MA, Ed was the beloved husband of his wife of 48 years Lynn Ryan Moran, cherished father of daughters Marilyn Moran Cochrane (F. Douglas) of Canton, MA and Susan Moran Murphy (George) of Philadelphia, PA, and sons Edward (Jo Marie) of Barrington Hills, IL, Erik (Elizabeth) of Monkton, MD, and Matthew Moran of Washington DC. He was the loving grandfather of Maggie Cochrane Needre, Douglas Cochrane, Kathleen, Mhoire, and Ryan Murphy, Meaghan, Catharine, Madee Jo, and Jack Moran, Jonathan, Connor, and Thomas Moran, and many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by parents John James Moran and Agnes MacAdams Murphy, step-father John J. Murphy, first wife Margaret Aandahl Moran, brother John, half-sister Mary Anne, and step-sister Barbara. Ed was a member of the Class of 1949, Harvard College, Cambridge, MA and a United States Army World War II veteran. He spent most of his career in the cement industry, retiring in 1995 as National Marketing Manager - White Cements for Lehigh Portland Cement Company. Ed was an avid sailor and spent countless hours enjoying this pastime, especially in the Chesapeake Bay on his 31 foot sloop, the Lynn Marie. In December 2017, Ed’s extended family and friends gathered together to celebrate with him at a big 90th Birthday Bash. At the party, Ed’s reflections centered on the theme of “gratitude”, his life, family, and friends for which he felt so fortunate, and his love for his family “of whom I could not be prouder.” A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at a later date yet to be determined. Donations may be made in Ed’s memory to the Southern Poverty Law Center www.splcenter.org. To offer on-line condolences, please visit his “Book of Memories” at falkfuneralhomes.com.
