Dr. Peter T. Yaswinski, DDS, 86, of Bethlehem, died April 9, 2011. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Agaphia (Moroz) Yaswinski and loving husband of the late Mary Ann (Jasyn) Yaswinski. He was a general dentist who practiced in Bethlehem for over 50 years. He also served for a period of time as a Bethlehem School District Dentist. He was an alumni of The University of Scranton and the Temple University School of Dentistry. Dr. Yaswinski, "Painless Pete from 4th Street", as he was affectionately called, was an active and lifetime member of the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association and the Bethlehem Dental Society. He served for a time as a Congressional Dental Liaison for the 15th Federal District. He is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and former member of St. Josephat's Ukrainian Catholic Church both in Bethlehem. Other memberships include: Bishop Welsch Assembly 931, 3rd Degree Knight with Trinity Council 313, Disabled American Veteran, Ukrainian Workingmen's Association, Sokols, Former Bethlehem Club member, and Little League Supporter. Dr. Pete was a talented Polka dancer who was a long time listener of "Jolly Joe" and other polka music. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed many family trips to Canada and his local streams. His other hobbies included hunting, bowling and bingo with his late wife Mary and his friends. He is survived by his children: Peter T. Yaswinski, Jr. MD and his wife Beth of East Stroudsburg, Paulette M. Yaswinski, DMD of Bethlehem, John M. Yaswinski DVM of Nazareth, Mary C. Yaswinski-Bouman RDH and her husband Tom of Kennesaw, GA and Cynthia A. Yaswinski of Bethlehem; and grandchildren: Matthew, Aubrey, Meghan, Sara, Emilie and Nicole. He is preceded in death by a son, Paul and brothers, Michael and Andrew. Services will be Thursday, April 14, 2011, 11 AM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, friends and family may call from 9-11 AM, with interment to follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
