Dorothy Mccullough

February 23, 1940 — November 13, 2018

On Tuesday, November 13th, 2018, Dorothy Joanne McCullough, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 78 of uterine carcinosarcomas. Dorothy was born on February 23, 1940 in Allentown, PA to Willard and Lucille (Zeimet) Snyder. She graduated from Allentown High School in 1958, and worked as a secretary for Lehigh Portland Cement Company until moving to Washington D.C. in 1961. She met her husband, Lee, in Alexandria, VA and they married on March 3, 1962. Dorothy took on the job as a military wife, moving every 2 years and making every house feel like a home. After living in Alexandria, they moved to Stillwater, OK; Edwards Air Force Base, CA; Wright Paterson Air Force Base, OH; Livermore, CA (where her son was born), Dayton, OH (where her daughter was born); and Westford, MA. They resided in Westford from 1975 until moving to Germany in 1985, first to Rinteln and later to Heidelberg, where they lived from 1987 until 1991. After leaving Heidelberg, they moved to Seoul, Korea, where Dorothy gave English lessons from her home. In 1995 they moved to Fredericksburg, VA, living there until 2000, when they moved to Hellertown, PA to be near their first grandchild. In August, they moved to their current home in Center Valley, PA. Dorothy’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and raising her children. She was actively involved with her 6 grandsons, and could often be seen at their sporting events and concerts. She also loved traveling, and traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia while living overseas as well as taking many cruises after her husband retired. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills, and enjoyed having friends to her home to play dominoes and Rummikub. She loved reading, seeing movies, going to plays, and going to band concerts. She especially loved listening to music from the 1940’s and from musicals. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Willard Snyder, her brother, Robert “Bear” Snyder, and her aunt, Dolores Joseph. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Lee; her son, Peter and wife Kelly in Doylestown, PA; her daughter, Susan Tennant and husband Seth in Westfield, NJ; and her 6 grandsons: Jackson (19), Max (16), and Luke (12) Tennant and Riley (14), Reagan (13), and Logan (9) McCullough. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as her childhood friend, Barbara Greenzweig, as well as many other close friends. All are invited to gather from 10 to 11 am on Monday at the Falk Funeral Home, 1418 Main St., Hellertown, PA 18055. A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 11 AM.
