Donald Kern

Donald Richard Kern, formerly of Topton and recently of the Keystone Villa at Fleetwood, died December 8, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was born February 21, 1927 in Maxatawny Twp, and was a son of the late Warren D. and Clardine (Knappenberger) Kern. Donald was a self-employed mason at Kern Masonry, Inc. in Topton. He was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War. Donald enjoyed going to casinos and traveling with his longtime companion, Grace McGrew of Fleetwood. Donald is also survived by his daughters: Susan K. (Steven) Fordyce, Mertztown; Janet E. (Chuck) Goheen, MA; and Jean M. (Charles) Ohlinger, Mertztown; a sister Betty Bartholomew, Nazareth, and brothers John, Topton; Dennis, Hamburg; Billy, Lenhartsville. Donald was pre-deceased by sisters Doris Leiby, Joanne Zettle and Audrey Keim Seltmann. Donald donated his body to science, and there will be no services.
