Dieter Cleinow

Dieter Cleinow, 72, of Spinnerstown, died on Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Born July 8, 1935 in Berlin, Germany, he was the son of the late Horst and Regina (Schroeder) Cleinow. He was the husband of Eileen W. (Feather) Cleinow. Dieter served in the U S Army and was honorably discharged from active service in 1962. He earned his Electrical Engineering B.S. in 1960 and M.S. in 1967 from Lehigh University. He was employed at the former Western Electric Works in Allentown before his retirement in February 1987 after 27 years of service. Dieter taught Mathematics at a Penn State extension campus. He was one of the co-founders of the Allentown Recreation Park Soccer Field in Fountain Park in Allentown. He was a member of the Telecom Pioneers. Along with his beloved wife, Eileen, of 32 years, Dieter is survived by two sons: Marcell and Paul, a daughter, Laura, wife of Stephen D. Leonard, a grandchild, Amber Ott, a sister, Barbara (Cleinow) Dau, a sister-in-law, Lucy Feather, two aunts: Elisabeth Schroeder and Erika (Gann) Schroeder, a step-uncle, Uwe Cleinow, four nephews, two nieces, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Private church and interment services at the Northwood Cemetery in Emmaus will be held at noon, on Saturday, October 6, 2007. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Lower Milford Township Fire Company #1 Ambulance Corps, PO Box 1, Coopersburg, PA 18036.
