Delores Schaffer

Delores "Dee" Schaffer, 79, of Barto, was promoted to Glory on May 1, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Earl Schaffer. Born in Elmira, NY, she was a daughter of the late Joseph & Iva (Rarick) Russell. Dee was a graduate of the Salvation Army Training College and; with her husband, served in the Salvation Army around the Northeastern United States for 45 years, retiring in 1999. She was an active member of Butter Valley Community Church, Bally. Dee enjoyed music, gardening, many forms of needlecrafts, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving with her husband, are sons: Jon, and his wife, Penny, of Douglasville; and Eric, and his wife, Becky, of Wilkes-Barre; a sister: Geraldine, wife of Richard Bosh, of Rochester, NY; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. A grandson, Douglas Bull, was killed in Afghanistan. Memorial Services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, May 10th at the Butter Valley Community Church, 121 Barto Road, Bally. Friends may call from 10-11 AM at the church. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg, is in charge of arrangements.
