David Richard Birnbaum, 95, of Bethlehem, passed away March 13, 2016. He was the husband of the late Ileen (Whitehead) Birnbaum for 68 years before her passing in 2014. Born in Bethlehem on May 31, 1920, he was a son of the late David and Hannah (Murphy) Birnbaum. He graduated from Liberty HS, Bethlehem. He served his country honorably in the US Navy during WWII. Following his service, he was employed as a mechanical engineer at Dixie Cup/American Can for many years. Dave was involved in Meals on Wheels for 30 years. His past times included traveling, bridge, and going out dancing with Ileen. Survivors: His sons: David Birnbaum and his wife Merle and Raemond Birnbaum and his wife Patricia; three grandchildren Douglas and his wife Kate, Adam, Rachel and her husband Matthew; and four great grandchildren Jayden, Lucas, Mathias and David. He was preceded in death by his brother Aloysius. Services: Memorial Service 10 AM, Thursday, April 7, Cathedral Church of the Nativity, 321 Wyandotte St, Bethlehem.
