Darrel D. Montgomery, 83, of Pottstown, PA, passed away at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, June 19, 2008, husband of Carole Montgomery. Born in Lyford, IN, he was the son of the late Nora and Harvey Montgomery and brother of the late Betty Danner, also step-brother of Donald Kellitt of Michigan. Darrel was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked in sales for Connecticut Valley Paper and Envelope Company for thirty years. He was an avid golfer at Kimberton Golf Course, and won the Club Championship, Runner-Up Club Championship, Pappy Jones Tournament and Senior Club Championship. Also, he shot six holes-in-one in The Villages, Lady Lake, FL. Darrel played in Shoot-Your-Age Tournament with Arnold Palmer and Gary Player in The Villages. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Schiefer, wife of Eric Schiefer, of Augusta, GA; and Susan Burke Mangano, wife of Joseph Mangano, of Ocean City, NJ. Three sons, Robert Montgomery and wife Kim, of Camden, NC, David Montgomery of Columbia, SC, and Michael Montgomery of Bobtown, PA. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two step-daughters, Dawn Wells of Pottstown and Diane Chuck, wife of Edward Chuck of Pottstown, four step-grandchildren and one step-great granddaughter. Memorial services will be held at the Kimberton Golf Course, Kimberton, PA . (Details pending) Darrel’s ashes will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
