Cynthia Louise Redgate

June 5, 1938 — February 4, 2021

Cynthia L. Redgate, 82, of Newton, NJ, and formerly of Hellertown, PA, Brockport, Wappingers Falls, and Poughkeepsie, NY., passed away peacefully on February 4, 2021. She was the beloved wife of 56 years and best friend to the late Walter S. Redgate who died in 2016. Born in Poughkeepsie, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Adeline (Barkley) Lewis. Cynthia was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and the Krissler Business Institute. Early in her life she worked as an executive assistant at a law firm and held part time positions over the years but mostly she devoted her life to family, church and volunteer work. Cindy, Mom, loved to travel, cook, volunteer, listen/play music, read and garden. She was a lifelong devoted Christian and longtime member of several churches including the First Presbyterian Church in Allentown, PA. Cindy was an active church member and a committed volunteer serving for many years as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and at the Auxiliary of St. Luke’s University Hospital and other charitable organizations. She centered her life on her family and was an amazing and devoted wife, mom and grandmother. As a Mom, she was a virtuous role model, always willing to listen, and her supportive positive spirit, insights and wisdom will be greatly missed. Cynthia is survived by a daughter, Shari Cruz and her husband Lee of Poughkeepsie, NY; her sons, Kevin and his wife Susana of Randolph, NJ, and Matthew and his wife Rachele of Annandale, NJ; her grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Adam, Benjamin, Danielle, Alanna, and Thomas; and her brother David Lewis of Weston, FL. Due to the current health crisis, a Celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, PA.
