Charles E. Diehl, 87, of Pennsburg, and formerly of Lehighton, passed away January 7, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn A. (Kemmerer) Diehl. Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Harry and Ida (Bollinger) Diehl. Charles served in the Army during WWII. He then worked in road construction. In 1963, he began employment as a mechanic with the Woodson’s Dairy, Red Hill; which then became Rosenberger’s, which he retired from in 1991 as a shop supervisor. Charles was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Red Hill. He was also a member of the Upper Perkiomen Sportsmen’s Assn, and the Pennsburg Fire Co. He was a life member of both the Big Creek Grange, and the N.R.A. Charles enjoyed hunting and tinkering with machinery, especially lawn mowers. He especially enjoyed his family and will be deeply missed. Surviving with his wife; are children: Barbara, wife of Larry Roeder, of Pennsburg; Linda Kriebel, of Emmaus; Bruce Diehl, and his wife, Brenda, of Black Hawk, CO; Harry Diehl, and his wife Deborah, of Jim Thorpe; Sharon, wife of Earl Ward, of Elkton, MD; and David Diehl and companion, Lisa Showalter, of Lehighton; siblings: George and Spencer Diehl, both of Lehighton; Carrie Diehl, of Allentown; and Gloria Farbstein of Falls Church, VA; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by brothers: David, Victor, and Alvin, and a grandson, Matthew. Services will be on Sunday at 2 PM at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg. Friends may call from 12-2 PM Sunday. Further services will be on Monday at 11 AM at the Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin Street, Weissport where friends may call from 9:30-11 AM. Interment will follow services in Weissport at the Franklin Heights Cemetery, Lehighton.
