Catherine Margaret Vargo

Catherine M. Vargo, 87, of Red Hill and formerly of Bethlehem, died September 12, 2010. She was the wife of the late Stephen F. Vargo who died in 2007. Born in Bethlehem, she wads a daughter of the late John and Theresa (Mestrick) Kametler. Catherine worked for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation for several years during WWII. Following that, she worked for the former Shure Fit in Bethlehem and then for many years worked for the former Schobel Bros. Necktie Factory in Bethlehem. She was a member of the former St. John Capistrano Catholic Church and the former Croatian Hall Ladies Auxiliary, both in Bethlehem.

Survivors: Son: Stephen Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Coplay; daughter: Barbara, wife of Gary Fretz, of Red Hill; grandchildren: Stefan and Mackenzie. She was predeceased by brothers: William, John and Francis; and sisters Louise and Betty.

Services: 11am, Thursday, at Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1418 Main Street, Hellertown. Call at the funeral home from 9:30 - 11:00 am.
