Carl G. Landis, 85, of Hereford and formerly of Boyertown, died April 1, 2009 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Eileen (Levengood) Landis, who died last month. They were married 57 years last September. Born in Boyertown, he was the son of the late George & Mary (Garman) Landis. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy Band as a drummer, stationed in Honolulu, HI. After the service, he played in the Keystone Band, Boyertown as a drummer, and also played the marimba and the xylophone. Throughout his career, he was employed at Boyertown Body Works, Meritts Lumber Yard, and was a carpenter for Bill Stauffer Homes. After a foot injury, he was employed at the former Mrs. Smith’s, Pottstown for over 23 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills United Church of Christ, Bechtelsville, and of the Friendship Hook & Ladder Co., Boyertown. Surviving is a son, Eric, of Hereford; a daughter, Kathleen, wife of Dennis Minotto, of Boyertown; a granddaughter, Katie; and a great-grandson, Blaine. He was pre-deceased by sons, Dennis, Dean, and Bruce; grandsons, Jasen and Kyle; and siblings, Pearl, Bessie, Alma, Miriam, Gerald and Arthur. Services will be 1 PM Saturday graveside at Union Cemetery, Boyertown. A viewing will be from 12-12:30 PM on Saturday at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg.
