Bernard J. Burns, 75, of W. Butternut Road, Williams Twp., and formerly of Sussex, NJ, died October 6, 2010. He was the husband of Mitzi (Bartholomew) Burns. Born in Kearney, NJ, he was a son of the late Bernard and Winifred (Dacey) Burns. He was the Superintendent of Public Works for the Borough of Sussex, NJ before retiring in 1997. He was a Navy veteran. He enjoyed fishing, and traveling, including twice to Alaska and several trips across the country. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play football at Wilson High School, and spending time with all of his grandchildren. Surviving with his wife, are children, Michael Burns, and his wife, Tara, of Sussex, NJ; Colleen, wife of Neil Cooper, of Williams Twp.; Maureen, wife of Edward Dewland, of Milford, PA; Linda, wife of Mitchell Ellicott, of Hopatcong, NJ; and Diane, wife of Rodney Shepherd, of Harrisburg, PA; and 15 grandchildren: Brianne, Brian, Christopher, Jeffrey, Amy, Carly, Megan, Scott, Ben, Zach, Maggie, Hannah, Shane, Riley, and Laney. He was pre-deceased by a son, Keith James Burns, who died on 9/11 at the World Trade Center. Services will be at 2 PM on Sunday at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1418 Main Street, Hellertown.
