Barbara M. Klavon, 79, of Upper Ridge Rd, Pennsburg, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2011. She was the beloved wife of Edward J. Klavon. They celebrated 58 years of marriage in March. Born in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late John and Esther (Thomas) Miller. She is a graduate of Grace Martin Business School, Pittsburgh. She retired from the North Penn School District where she was the secretary for the principal of the N. Penn Jr. High. Prior to that, she worked for Daniels Garden Center in Vernfield. Early in life, she worked for the H. J. Heinz Co., in Pittsburgh. Barbara was an advocate for environmental issues, peace, and justice. She was an avid birdwatcher and a member of the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. She was also a member of the Appalachian Trails Conservancy. Following her retirement, she and her husband toured National Parks, toured with Elderhostel groups, and hiked on the Appalachian Trail. Survivors: Husband; sons, Timothy Graham Klavon and John Paul Klavon Sr., both of Pennsburg; sisters, Susanne Hahn of Shaler Twp, PA, and Gretchen Peery of West River, MD, and six grandchildren. Services: Memorial, 7 p.m., Thursday, Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg. Call at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. A reception will follow the services at the Perkiomen Parents Hall.
