Arthur Richard Kreitz

October 5, 1935 — March 13, 2025

Arthur Richard Kreitz, 89, of Easton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 13th, 2025. Born October 5, 1935, in Easton, he was the son of Arthur Andrew Kreitz and Mary Ann (Helm) Kreitz. Dick was a 1953 graduate of Easton High School, a student at Wyoming Seminary, and a 1958 graduate of the University of Delaware. His career was spent at Losey & Company in downtown Easton and Palmer Township, as a store assistant and salesman and later as president, retiring in 1998. During his high school and college years he was a gifted athlete, lettering in football, basketball and baseball, and was captain of the 1952 Easton HS football team and first recipient of the James V. Noble Award. For many years of his life, he was involved in Easton athletics as a mentor, administrator and football and baseball coach. In retirement, he spent his time working on his house and the cabin at Little Mud Pond, going to Easton football games, traveling to New Hampshire and Maine, and mostly enjoying the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends. Nothing gave him greater joy than being with family. Seemingly fated, the storied romance with the love of his life, Mary Jane (Collins) Kreitz, began on Easton’s South Side in ninth grade when he saw her step off a bus. Almost inseparable throughout high school, they were King and Queen of their senior prom, were married in Easton in 1957, and enjoyed many happy years of profound love and mutual adoration until her passing in 1979.

Surviving are his six children, Karen Poulter of Goleta, California, Kevin Kreitz (Kelly Jo) of Hellertown, Lauren Pellegrino (Samuel) of Easton, Mark Kreitz (Annekathrin) of Brookeville, Maryland, Kristine Kreitz of Easton, and Katharine Lewis of Easton; a sister Audrey Cowell (Gene) of Nazareth; several cousins including Bruce Kreitz of Huntington Beach, California and Kenneth Warman (Sally) of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; fifteen grandchildren, Kandis (Tobenna), Jesse (Alyssa), Britton (Michelle), Stuart (Kristina), Shirsten (Karl), Drew (Lauren), Kameron (Lauryn), Calvin (Emily), Taylor, Anthony, Kennedy, Xavier, Samantha, Nele, and Till; thirteen great-children, Grace, Reagan, Armani, Canon, Ella, Hensley, Josie, Collins, Wesley, Braxton, Ryleigh, Myles, and Kaden; many nieces and nephews; and his companion of many years, Patricia Bechtel of Easton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Adele Manners (David) of Bethlehem Township, and a cousin, Wanda Cochran (Norman) of West Chester.

A private burial service was held at Northampton Memorial Shrine on March 18 where he was laid to rest next to his wife, Mary Jane. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
