Adam Fekula

April 12, 1929 — March 18, 2016

Adam J. Fekula, 86, of Bethlehem, passed away on March 18th, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Freemansburg, Adam was a graduate of Liberty High School and, after a short baseball career with the Philadelphia Athletics organization, worked in the General Services Division of Bethlehem Steel as a draftsman and estimator for 32 years. After his initial retirement, he spent another 32 years working with D’Huy Engineering before taking full retirement in 2010. In addition to his working career, Adam was very active in the Lehigh Valley sports community. He was one of the founders of the West Bethlehem Youth Association. He was active in Northampton County American Legion Baseball for more than 50 years, serving as Manager of the West Bethlehem team, as well as Secretary, and President of the League. In 1972, Adam was inducted into the Pennsylvania American Legion Sports Hall of Fame and the Northampton County American Legion Hall of Fame. An avid golfer, Adam has two hole-in-ones to his credit and three league championships to his name. He was also an active member of the Bethlehem Area MORA (Men of Retirement Age) Club and the Bethlehem Wanderers Athletic Association. Adam was married to the former Joan Lorsong for almost 64 years. Together, they raised four children in West Bethlehem. He was predeceased by Joan in 2014. Surviving to cherish the memories of both Adam and Joan, are two sons, Patrick and his wife, CynDee, of Jacksonville, FL and Michael and his wife, Jacqueline, of Evans, GA; two daughters, Kathleen (Kate) Cutcliffe and Joan (Jode) Fekula, both of Bethlehem; and two daughters-in-law, Joan Deyo of Florida and Kay Fekula of Colorado. He was dearly treasured by eight grandchildren: Benjamin, Genevieve, Keith, Patricia Adam, Juliana, Nathaniel and Timothy; and six great grandchildren, with another on the way! Adam is also survived by a brother, Joseph and his wife Dorothy, and their three children; a brother-in-law, Michael Lorsong; a niece, Debbie Turton and her husband Philip, and their two daughters, as well as his wife’s cousin, Patricia Shilling, all of Bethlehem. Additionally, he loved and was loved by extended family Sue, Jack, and Amy Lawrence of Bethlehem; and close friend, Faye Anderko. Adam was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Fekula and his brother John (Jack) of Freemansburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. A memorial Service will be held at Lutheran Manor in Bethlehem at a later date. Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Hellertown are in charge of arrangements.
